I am constantly finding stuff that is simply fun to look at in the Wetmore collection, which seems strewn about the entire place in pockets here and there. Shown is the cover and first page of a series of educational toy books called “Dame Wonder’s” series published in New York in the mid-19th century.

On the first page of this copy is the following inscription, which paints a nice scene in the mind’s eye: “Presented to Master Henry Maxwell by his Grandmother.”
