Domestic Terrorism

Here’s a chilling little book I came across today by James Beard (NOT the famous chef and cookbook author), while checking a Civil War bibliography against our card catalog. It is a history of the Ku Klux Klan, in “humorous and didactic” sketches, written a dozen years after that nefarious organization was formed. The book claims to present an objective view, but the tone belies that claim (at least to my modern sensibilities). The KKK was formed initially in Pulaski, Tennessee on Christmas Eve, 1865 by six former Confederate Army officers in response to Reconstruction.
